Today we drove from San Ramon to the region of Lake Arenal and the Arenal Volcano about a 2 hour hour trip through gorgeous green jungle, countryside and forests. We spent the last two nights at the lovely B and B Casa Amanecer in San Ramon in the care of three lovely Costa Rican sisters who treated us like members of their family. My biggest find though was our venue for the previous two nights the fantastic B and B “Luxury living for peanuts”, yes, that is the name, located in Escazu, just outside the capital city of San Jose, Costa Rica. Located in two large homes, the room that I stayed in featured a huge bedroom/office area, a large bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub for those so inclined and best of all a wonderful porch with views of the distant mountains and jungle. All of that plus a scrumptious breakfast, fruit in the room and full run of the property and within a short walk to restaurants, shopping areas and very best of all, the entire package for $65/night!! A similar room in the USA or Europe would go for at least $3-400/night. Your dollars go much, much, much farther in Costa Rica and the people and the natural wonders are free.
