Hotel Real de Minas San Miguel de Allende

I like to write about my neighborhood in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. If you are contemplating a trip to San Miguel, I would like to recommend a very nice hotel for your consideration. Located at the active intersection of Calle Stirling Dickinson and the Ancha San Antonio the Hotel Real de Minas {HRM} will fill all of your hotel needs and place you in a fantastic neighborhood.

Within a 5 minute walk from the hotel in any direction and you encounter a myriad of shops and restaurants, walk a bit farther along the Ancha and you will find inside almost every doorway a shop, boutique, restaurant or lovely courtyard. You will be about a 15-minute walk to the Parroquia and the Jardin at the heart of the centro region of San Miguel but the environment of the HRM puts you in a real Mexican neighborhood and away from the bustle of the centro which you can easily access if you want to.

Let’s talk about the HRM now. First of all the standard two queen bed room comes in at about $82 and deluxe rooms and junior suites and senior suites are available with prices maxing out at about #200. The HRM is right on the walk that I often take to the Mercado Sano, the organic market across the street as well as the OXXO convenience store on the corner as well. My barbershop is a 2-minute walk from the HRM along the Ancha. During the ProMusica concert season from January to March the St. Paul church where the concerts are held is no more than a 5-minute walk along the Ancha to Calle del Cardo.

Walking by the hotel almost daily as I do, I was interested to find out more about it and to share the information with you. The entrance and outside facade are in brick and stone and the curbside valet parking moves along very smoothly. The main lobby is large and inviting and the check-in process seemed to be moving along very efficiently. There is a definite Mexican feel to the hotel and the vast majority of patrons that I saw were Mexican interspersed with a few gringos.

I was only able to inspect one of the rooms because the deluxe rooms and suites were all occupied. The standard room was large with excellent bed mattresses and bed linens. Decorated with some Mexican artifacts, with a long stucco wall in light beige, a TV with cable and over 100 channels including the major US networks in English as well as ESPN and Fox sports networks and an excellent high-speed internet the room seems to fit everything that the traveler to Mexico might want in a hotel and at what I think is a fantastic price.

The hotel boasts several restaurants with a variety of cuisines and a delightful outdoor buffet-style seafood restaurant. A lovely freshwater pool seemed popular with adults and children alike.

If you are planning a trip to San Miguel de Allende and looking for a hotel excellently located in a primarily Mexican neighborhood I would recommend that you consider the HRM. Take a look at my photos to give yourself a more visual idea of what the HRM has to offer. I think you will really enjoy the hotel and its adjacent neighborhoods where you will experience the vibe of a real Mexican neighborhood rather than the gringo dominated centro area!
