Hello from my favorite French town, Menton, on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, just east of Monaco and just west of Italy. I wanted to make sure to get a new post in today because tomorrow I will depart for a 4 day, 3 night trip to Italy but more about that later. I arrived yesterday to my Airbnb location in the Victoria Beach apartment complex, on the Promenade du Soleil or sunny walk way in English, along the shore of the Mediterranean seafront. The attached photos will give you a sense of the lovely view I have from my beachfront apartment on the first floor of this gated entry complex, just across the promenade from the beach. My view looks west toward Roquebrune-Cap-Martin which juts out into the sea across the Bay of Menton. My apartment is decorated in the sunny yellows and cool blues of the “Cote d’Azure.” I have a fully functional kitchen, a comfortable dining area, a sitting area, a bedroom with large bed and a full bathroom with great water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. Both electric heating and air conditioning are available but right now, during the daytime, neither is needed, at night, however, the heating is helpful. As I mentioned, tomorrow I will depart for Italy with a plan to spend a day and night in Alassio and then three days and two nights exploring the so-called Bay of Poets where Percy Shelly drowned when his ship was wrecked in a storm and where his widow, Mary Shelly, she the famous authoress of “Frankenstein” and Lord Byron, cremated Shelly’s body on the beach. My base will be at the Grand Hotel Potovenere on the northeast side of the Gulf of La Spezia but I plan to cross the gulf by ferry and visit Lerici and Talloro on the opposite shore also. I am looking forward to lunch tomorrow at Restaurant Nove in the Villa Della Pergola high above Alassio, as well as my stay at the Grand Hotel Alassio for the night. I will report to you how Alassio appears now,as the tourist season begins, as opposed to how sleepy it was during my visit last November. All off the photos from this trip will be taken with my new Sony A7RIII, full frame, mirrorless, digital camera. I hope that you will enjoy looking at my photos as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
