Nicaragua Day 6February 18, 2016
One more day in San Juan del Sur. Yesterday we visited Laguna Apoyo a huge lake in an extinct volcano. We ate pescado al a plancha, grilled fish caught in the lake and it was delicious. We had a local marimba band for entertainment and some people swam in the fresh water lake. People here are so nice and helpful. Later we stopped in Catarina, Nicaragua for a spectacular view of the volcano and the lake. This town is known for it’s hand made arts and crafts and for it’s extensive plant nurseries including many kinds of herbs, all for sale. Our last stop was in Rivas, Nicaragua a fairly good sized city on our way back to San Juan del Sur. All in all a very fun, interesting and exciting day although a bit taxing for “the old guy” namely, me!!
